Tired of all the same vacation location with the same sandy beaches or fast modern life? Here are some of the most uniquely intriguing places to visit in the world.

  1. San Zhi, Taiwan: This abandoned city looks like something out of a science fiction movie with its pod shaped living spaces. These pods were originally built as a luxury vacation location, but construction was stopped after a series of fatal accidents and lack of money. This area is rumored to be haunted by the ghosts of those that die.
  2. Balestino, Italy: This abandoned town has a mysterious heritage. The original founding of the town is unknown and the presumed cause for abandonment is ‘geological unstability.’ However, many of the buildings are still standing.
  3. Katoli World, Taiwan: This amusement park was very popular and created much laughter in its time. However, a earthquake struck the park in 1999 which destroyed many of the rides and caused the park to close. It is now rusting away.
