Having Fun With Road Trips

February 19, 2011 :: Posted by - TravelPro :: Category - Outdoor Travel

One of the recognoized national pasttimes is jamming a bunch of people into a car and driving to a faraway destination, while people inside the car bicker and fight and take some forced pictures.

The thought of a road trip may cause mixed emotions in some people, but there are ways to have a road trip without experiencing drama. The trick to the whle thing is having a memorable experience that you will tell people about in the future. If a unique experience is had, then the trip is worthwhile.

Therefore, going with a group of friends is highly recommended. Not only will this remove some of the possible family drama, but it will make the trip one that is shared with people that you enjoy spending time with. Additionally, the common interests that friends have will make it easier to find stuff to do.

Taking goofy pricturs is highly recommended. It does not matter if the road trip is completely dull or is the craziest thing ever experienced; the pitcures will shape the memory. Taking the time to take ludicrous pictures will make the trip more memorable for everyone.

Additionally, finding crazy activities to do will make the trip a great one. These can be found through camping, going to quirky attractions, or doing something extreme and once in a lifetime. Above all else, doing crazy stuff with fiends will shape a memory that can be fondly looked back on in later parts of life.

Tips to Know Before you Cruise

October 21, 2010 :: Posted by - TravelPro :: Category - Cruising

Cruising may seem like the perfect vacation get away, but there are a few tips you should know before you set off for sea.

  1. Tipping. Many people do not know that you are charged about $10 a day per person for your cabin steward. This is an extra cruising expense you need to budget into your vacation. You will also be expected to tip other people on the cruise line, such as your waiter and bartender. Read your cruise line’s manual to know how much is expected.
  2. Shore Excursions. The cruise line always has many options available when it comes to shore excursions. What they don’t tell you, is that it is a lot cheaper if you can plan it yourself. Many vacationers do not want to worry about the hassle of planning their own excursions, but for those looking to save money, if you can plan it yourself, you will be saving lots of money.
  3. Dress Code. Be sure to look at the dress code for your ship before you leave your house! You don’t want to be that person that stands out at dinner because you didn’t bring the proper attire. Most cruise lines require business casual for dining and have one or two nights of formal wear. Read carefully though, every cruise line is different.
  4. Book Early. Those you can plan ahead can save anywhere from 15-50 percent on booking a cruise. The longer you wait, the higher the price goes. Sometimes you can save even more than 50 percent if you find the right price. Cruise lines are always running deals, and the key is to catch it while it lasts.
  5. Get a Room in the Middle. For those of you who get sea sick easily, try to get a room that is in the middle of the ship and a little higher up. When you are in the middle you feel less rocking of the ship.
  6. Not all Ships are for Kids. If you are planning on bringing children with you on a cruise, know that not every cruise line is catered for children. Cruise lines such as Disney, Carnival, and Royal Caribbean, do excellent jobs at helping kids have a fun experience too.

It is important to know that cruising is not for everyone. I would suggest that for the first time go on a short 3 day cruise just to try it out and see if you like it. There are so many options when it comes to cruising. Make sure you do your research so you get the best cruise for you.

Preparing for a Road Trip

August 04, 2010 :: Posted by - TravelPro :: Category - Entertainment

Traveling by car is often the most affordable option for taking a vacation. However, the time spent in the car is often less than desirable. There are many things you should keep in mind that may help you and your family survive the car ride.

  1. Take breaks. You will need to take many rest stops to stretch your legs. This is especially important if you have young children. They will have a lot of energy that they will need to expend.
  2. Pack entertainment bags. These are not only for children. You will not want to have to pass the time in boredom either.
  3. Collect a variety of games that can be played in the car. There will come a point during the long trip when it will be very difficult to keep your children entertained. At this point, pull out the games and interact with them. If you are actively trying to entertain them, it will keep them distracted for a while longer.
  4. Take snacks. Road side snacks are often very expensive and it is likely that your children will become hungry before you stop for meals. Snacks can also distract them when they are about to throw a tantrum in the car.
  5. Allow your children to spend energy in the fast food restaurant playrooms. As a result, they feel tired and sleep in the car. This will allow you to spend less time entertaining them and you may be able to get a nap yourself.
