Are you heading out to find the best parties? New Orleans is home to one of the largest Mardi Gra celebrations in America. Here are a few of the popular activities that will happen during this week:

  1. Parades: Parades will begin of February 5th and will continue through Mardi Gra day, which is the 16th.  There will several parades every day so no matter where you are in New Orleans you will be sure to see one!
  2. King Cakes: King Cakes are an un-skippable Mardi Gra tradition and can be found in any bakery or grocery store across New Orleans.
  3. Costumes: People will dress up in costumes all across New Orleans. Masks are a tradition and are part of the fun. Think about it, Halloween in February!

The celebration of Mardi Gra came to the US in 1699 from Paris and has become a widely celebrated tradition across America.
