In addition to making a visit to a doctor for a checkup, you should visit the dentist as well. It is especially important if you have not visited your dentist in a while and if you are planning on going on an extended trip.

The dentist will also be able to give you advice on how you should maintain your teeth in poverty situations. For example, you may not be able to find potable water that you can brush your teeth with.

If this is the case they will encourage you to at least floss if possible. Oral hygiene is not any less important in a different country, but circumstances can be different.

You will also want to make sure that you crowns and dental appliances are secure. If would be very unfortunate to have something go wrong in a place where you cannot visit the dentist or where you would not trust the local dentists to do a proper job.
