The New York Times recently posted a list of 31 great places to travel to in 2010. The number one on their list was Sri Lanka.

This may be surprising because Sri Lanka has been the center of a lot of misfortune and conflict. However, the conflict finally ended last May leaving the country more peaceful than it has been in years.

This country is feature surprising beauty for the amount of conflict it has faced as well. Sri Lanka is also a country of that is culturally extremely wealthy.

The island is populated by about 20 million people and has a vast range of exotic wildlife. Freely roaming elephants, monkeys, and water buffalos are common a common sight in this country.

Bamboo is also a common plant that adds to the beautiful scenery of this country. This island also features hundreds of things to do. This is an experience that should not be passed up.
