When I say “Idaho,” you probably instinctively think of potatoes. While Idaho is indeed famous for its delicious homegrown potatoes, which are then shipped for sell to various other places, Idaho has so much more than that. Idaho has the very city where a popular movie was made. Napolean Dynamite was filmed in Preston, Idaho. Preston is a small town in the southern part of Idaho. Although it is small and holds up to its tradition of being a sparsely populated farming town, there are many attractions in this town that may compel you to take a trip to the potato land!

First of all, Franklin County was founded in 1913 and Preston is the county seat. Some places in Preston that might be worth checking out include: Historic Downtown Franklin, Preston Airport, Oneida Stake Academy, The Bear River Massacre Site, and Larsen-Sant Library.

Some fun things to do in Preston include: the Preston Rodeo, birdwatching, many reservoirs to play in, hot springs, golfing, bowling, and even an opera house. If you want to feel like you are in the movie while in Preston, then you definitely want to attend the Pop N Pins Lanes bowling alley because it is the same one used in Napolean Dynamite! Although, Preston is such a small town you won’t want to miss out on some of these attractions if you get the time!
